A Standells were the 1960s rock and roll band from Los Angeles, California who, like The Seeds, exemplified the garage rock style.
It was number 1 began around 1962 by guitar player Tony Valentino & organist Larry Tamblyn.
A band's foremost hit only was "Dirty Water" which reached #11 on the Billboard charts on June 11, 1966.
More hits involved "Sometimes Good Guys Don't Wear White", "Why Pick On Me", "Riot On Sunset Strip" (just about a 1966 riots consequent from either police force attacks in flower child) & "Try It".
Singer/drummer Dick Dodd, world health organizatiin sang a lead on "Dirty Water", occurs as previous Mouseketeer, and singer/keyboardist Larry Tamblyn is the brother of actor Russ Tamblyn and uncle of Amber Tamblyn, star of "Joan of Arcadia".
